RCB Bank sponsors research Conducted by the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics

RCB Bank’s sponsorship regards a three yearlong research program with the use of new DNA technology for the diagnosis and study of diseases. The project aims at diagnosing patients that up until today remained undiagnosed. This important financial support grants the Institute the possibility to complete a series of research programs, thus enabling it to fulfill the goals it has set.
The press conference was held in the presence of the Minister of Health Dr. George Pamporides who saluted RCB Bank’s support to the said three yearlong research program and who also underlined the very important work conducted by the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. The Minister stated that “The Institute is nothing less than diamond in its sector in Cyprus.”
Mr. Sotos Zackheos, RCB Bank’s Executive Director noted that the Bank is particularly pleased to support the work of an Institute that is known for its excellence in the fields of Neurology, genetics and biomedical sciences and that has been acknowledged in Europe and beyond. Commenting on RCB Bank’s sponsorship of this important research program, Mr. Zackheos underlined that “it regards a tangible financial support for the three years required with a total amount of 180,000 Euros”.
Finally, Professor Leonidas Phylactou, Chief Executive Medical Director of the Institute, thanked RCB Bank for the long-term support it provides and stressed the importance of providing support to pioneering and innovative research from socially responsible organizations such as RCB Bank. Professor Phylactou stated that through the research conducted mankind benefits as well as patients and society in general. Mr. Phylactou stated that “The purpose of this research is to identify the cause that provokes a disease that it would have otherwise been hardly recognized.”
The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Sciences gives particular attention to research, applied/innovative research since its results translate to services whose end users are people, patients and society at large.
